The Rant 9/7/2026

Hey Everybody!

Welcome back, I hope all of you had an amazing summer! This year were overhauling a lot of our systems to make things more streamlined and efficient. This means that we have to re-register all of our members that want to keep receiving The Rant. If you would like to keep receiving The Rant please fill out this form: link

We also have two new forms for sending us Feedback and for setting up events that you want to run. You can find them here and here. I hope you all have a great year, see you all at club!

This Thursday marks our LAST OFFICIAL meeting of the semester. With finals being next week, we will not be holding a meeting next Thursday. That being said, this Thursday will be twice as fun to compensate!

We’ll be having a bit of a party. Drinks will be provided. It’ll be an absolute blast!

Several games will be run for you all to partake of, including Mario Party and a very special DnD one-shot!

With that out of the way, there’s not much else to cover. This is my last eMail to you all (barring emergency announcements; they’d better not happen), since David T. will be taking over the position of Secretary next semester.

It’s been fun,
Tristan Ness

Saturday Meeting

To those of you going to tomorrow’s club meeting,

The HUB closes at 8:00PM tomorrow, so the meeting will be held in Hyde 316 and 318. These are the same rooms as the last time we moved to Hyde.

Do not go to the HUB, we will not be there.

Hello people!

Stuff is happening! Elections! That’s what’s happening! This one’s going to be a little different. We’ll explain the process more at the meeting, but the gist of it is that you will write down and submit your top SIX picks for the As-of-yet-Unnamed-Assembly. We will then perform basic addition to find the SIX with the most votes and that will be that.

After the official-ish stuff is done, this Thursday is retro games night! If you like older games and older consoles (like the GameCube for instance), this is for you!

This Saturday, Matt will be testing a game of his own devising. It’s much like charades but with a twist. Should be heaps of fun!

(I actually don’t remember what’s happening next Thursday, but it’s probably awesome. We’ll talk about it tomorrow, I’m sure.)

That’s all I have for you this week.

Hello everybody!

Tomorrow night, we will be holding nominations for chair positions! Please come prepared so we can get to the fun stuff as quickly as possible.

Also on Thursday is an HvZ mission! Have fun, shoot many zombies, perhaps become many zombies. Fun, fun, fun!

This Saturday is our Gaming for Charity event! It will run from 10:00am-10:00pm and it should be very enjoyable. We’ll have some Super Smash Bros tournaments as well as a Magic: the Gathering draft. We need participants, so do not be shy. Open gaming will be held for the duration of the event.
(If you signed up to table for this tomorrow or Friday, you had best be there or we will be very sad.)

Next Thursday will be retro/gamecube games night hosted by Stel and/or Shane! Do you like GameCube? You should.

The following Saturday, Matt will be testing a board game of his own devising. He will need players to help out with this. If you’ve never tested a game before, it’s probably one of the most fun things you can do with a board game.

Have fun and try not to succumb to the zombie horde!

Meeting Location Change

Hello all,

If you plan on coming to club tonight (Thursday, April 14), DO NOT come to the Student Senate room in the HUB.

The meeting has been moved to Hyde Hall, rooms 316 and 318 due to some important stuff that has to go down in the HUB tonight.

Once more: DO NOT go to HUB 119, DO go to Hyde 316/318.

I hope you’re all having a fantastic week!

Tomorrow, Thursday, we have a tabletop game being run by Ethan. Frostgrave! It sounds like an incredibly interesting, slightly smaller-scale version of wargaming. We’ll explain it further at the meeting, but it’s definitely something you should consider checking out if you’ve ever been interested in getting into wargaming. My understanding is that it should be relatively easy to teach, so don’t feel intimidated!

On Saturday, David T. and company will be running some Rocket League. I don’t really know much about it, but I did watch a couple of YouTube videos about it and it looks super crazy. Definitely plan on joining in. It should some nice, fast-paced weekend fun!

I totally didn’t forget what’s happening next Thursday! (I’m pretty sure it’s retro gaming night with Stel and/or Shane, but don’t quote me on that.) Either way, we’ll cover during business tomorrow!

In the near future we will be holding nominations for chair positions. Probably one week from tomorrow. Elections shortly thereafter.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I really need to eat a sandwich or something.

See you at the gathering,

The Rant

This week on Thursday Matt is running a game of Civ 5. Please join if you are interested! Picking will be on a first come first served basis.

This weekend there is no meeting. Game-On-I-Con is happening! Make sure you come and have fun. We’ll be putting out sign-up sheets for work at the meeting this Thursday. Remember, 4 hours of work gets you in for FREE.

Next Thursday, Ethan is running Frostgrave! If you enjoy tabletop games, come and play!

That’s all for this week.

Hi everyone,

There’s a lot of cool stuff coming up, so there’s a lot to talk about this time!

This Thursday we have terrain-building with Ethan. This is perfect for any of you who play tabletop minis games that want to learn how to make your own battlefields. Even if you don’t play, arts an crafts style things are always fun! Definitely check that out.

Saturday is Sanic Ball with Shane. I don’t know what it is and I can’t be bothered to look it up, but it sounds like memes. If there’s one thing I know you like, it’s memes. The gates of Hell have opened. There is no turning back.

Scheduled for next Thursday, we have the Ragnarök—I mean Civ V. If you’ve ever wanted to exercise your right to attempt world domination without the United Nations breathing heavily down your neck (don’t lie to me I know you want to), then this is the game for you! Like, seriously. It’s fun. A lot of fun. It’s also chaos, but the good kind of chaos.

Now it’s time for the big stuff!

You know how Game-on-Icon is happening in about a week? We need TVs. If you have a TV you wouldn’t mind lending it to us or you can procure a TV whose owner wouldn’t mind lending it to us, you are encouraged to make us aware of this fact. We do need a non-zero number of CRT TVs as well, so those are at the top of our preferences.

Speaking of needing things, we also need copies of the following games:
-Super Smash Bros
-Skip Bo
-Chutes and Ladders
-Mario Kart

If you can help with providing copies of these games, please talk to David.

One last thing about Con. We will have paper copies of pre-registration forms at the meeting tomorrow for you to fill out. More on this at the meeting.

But WAIT, there’s mooooorrrrre!

HVZ will be happening from April 18th through April 22nd! Tabling will happen the week prior. Prepare yourselves.

And finally, Gaming for Charity is happening again this semester! We don’t have a date set in stone for this yet, but let it be known: It will happen (probably sometime around the end of April). We’ll have more information for you in the next week or so, so just sit tight until then.

That’s all. I promise. Nothing more for this week. For real. I’m tired. Good night.
